Let’s Pave Will Join Retail Real Estate Professionals at RetailGreen

sustainable retail eventTo stay on top of the latest sustainability initiatives affecting our retail real estate clientele, Let’s Pave is attending the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) RetailGreen Conference in Scottsdale, AZ, on November 28-29. This event is the ideal place to exchange ideas on creating an environmentally friendly and economically viable retail environment.

The conference boasts a variety of learning formats including panels, workshops, and landlord-retailer roundtable discussions centered on collaborative opportunities for energy efficiencies. During general sessions, presenters will discuss how to tackle problems relating to site and building design development, lighting and energy efficiencies, water conservation, and utilization of renewable materials in building practices.

Sustainable Paving Materials

RetailGreen is a great opportunity for us to learn, network, and share with retailers how pavement enters the sustainability equation. In fact, there are many alternative paving materials that can be used as part of sustainable building design and construction practices in the retail industry. These products use recycled materials or are designed to help specifically with environmental regulations.

For example, crack sealants are made from recycled car tires and many options are water-based with fewer volatile organic compounds or VOCs. Eco-friendly sealcoating materials such as solar reflective coatings are lighter in color to reflect UV rays and reduce urban heat island effect. For the more traditional black effect, petroleum-based options are a viable alternative to refined coal tar and may be applied nationwide. Striping is the finishing touch on any parking lot and there are many low-VOC options which meet guidelines in all 50 states.

We are excited to attend this conference and to be involved with ICSC. By participating in leading industry associations, we are able to better understand our customers’ needs and deliver the very best solutions, including those which will reduce energy, waste, and pollution during pavement maintenance procedures.
